Dom Maxwell The Bloom
Summer might be over, but that doesn't mean we're not still looking for refreshing and delicious white wines to enjoy.
And they don't come much tastier than The Bloom, from New Zealand's award-winning winemaker Dom Maxwell. Produced in Waipara on the South Island, this wine region is famous for its aromatic wines, which whilst dry, often give wonderful hints of perfume and flowers, think jasmine or Turkish Delight. Made from a blend of Riesling and Gewurztraminer, this elegant wine is a great introduction to this style of white, with hints of lychee, bursts of lime and mineral flavours that make it ideal to drink on its own or with lightly-spiced nibbles. £11.99 from Naked Wines.
If you usually go for fruity Sauvignons, why not branch out and give an aromatic wine a try? Whether you're buying from your local wine merchant, the supermarket or an online subscription like Naked, there will be Gewurztraminers, Rieslings, Viogniers and Pinot Gris in the selection. Look out for the grape variety and remember to check the back label for the sweetness level. Wine Experience would love to hear what you think!
